About RSVP of Scioto County

RSVP

RSVP is about helping to make a difference in our community by matching the skills of our members to the needs of our stations.

RSVP of Scioto County has been in existence since 1973 and is sponsored by Scioto Christian Ministry, Inc. Scioto Christian Ministry (SCM) is an ecumenical group consisting of 11 different churches throughout Scioto County. As a charter member of SCM, First Presbyterian Church has graciously provided the central office space for RSVP since 1973 as an in-kind donation. Numerous members of all 11 churches are active RSVP volunteers.

SCM also sponsors Operation SafetyNet (Scioto County’s homeless shelter) and the West End Child Care Center.

RSVP is a national organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults as they transition from one phase of life to another. It is one of three organizations that make up the Senior Corps under the jurisdiction of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions are the other two organizations.

How is RSVP funded?

RSVP of Scioto County receives funding from a federal grant through the Corporation for National & Community Service, Area Agency on Aging District 7, United Way of Scioto County, Scioto Christian Ministry, Inc., and through other grants, private and corporate donations and multiple fundraising efforts.
